My grandparents were dairy farmers in the village of Bruthen, in East Gippsland. As children we spent many weekends and holidays there. In the long afternoons we would wait at the gate for our uncles to come home to take us for horse rides, to check rabbit traps or to go mushrooming. They were carefree happy times.
