This composite photographic image is one of many from the The Un-Scenes Project. All elements in the image have been photographed by myself over the years and compiled in photoshop to create a new slightly surreal environment for the subject, generally somewhere you wouldn't expect to find it, an un-scene if you like. All images belong to a 3 part themed series in a 16:9 format, have a white border and include a certificate which tells the story and inspiration behind each image.
The title of the print is located bottom centre of white border which can either be included or not when framing.
Each print has a digital signature bottom corner of the image.
This image is one of three from the Birdsville Series.
A recent road trip to Birdsville gave me a new appreciation as to how vast our state of Queensland is. There is a LOT of nothing, so when something quirky pops up it’s definitely time to pull over for a photo and stretch your legs.
People did and still do live in very isolated places in outback Queensland. I wanted these images to reflect that isolation and the sense of humour required to live out here.
The desaturating of the vivid blue skies gives more attention to the subjects and the toning adds to the aging of the subjects.

This sign was spotted at the one pub ‘town’ of Middleton between Winton and Boulia. The monolith in the background is also between Winton and Boulia but a few kms back towards Winton.
Here lived an artist and her 3 legged dog called Lucky. They did a 700km round trip once a month for supplies and to sell her latest artwork. They were always keen for visitors, but you would have to sleep rough, out with the dingoes.
