I admire Lin Onus' paintings, and have been looking for a way to include fish in my outback oeuvre. This painting is of two puffer fish that I have imagined being caught up in an ephemeral cycle of flooding and drying. The sun-baked salt pans of central Australia are white washed, heat ravaged water courses, that connect still to a long lost inland-sea and represent continuation of life in an unforgiving environment.
