My studio is in Uralla in New South Wales and at the moment we are experiencing the worst drought in living memory. Coupled with this the region has just been ravaged by horrendous bushfires. Hard times for so many. This series of seascapes was like therapy for me! They provided an escape - albeit in my head - from the dust at the fires at the brown and the burnt. It felt so good to work in blue, teal, aqua and green.
The brush strokes are loose and full of energy in an attempt to capture the power and movement of the ocean. Look closely and you see the surfers in the line up, waiting for their opportunity to catch a wave.
Acrylic , oil pastels, oil sticks.
