Reproduction Print on paper
Signed on the front.
I created this painting back in 2012, it was a part of a solo exhibition I had in Melbourne entitled 'A World Elsewhere' which was inspired by Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures In Wonderland'. The work was also (obviously) inspired by Jan Vermeer's painting titled 'The Art of Painting', I pictured this 17th century Dutch interior with a contemporary twist, the March Hare modelling for the Mad Hatter who is actually painting Alice. The old world map on the wall is now Australia, the door mouse is asleep on a pillow and my coffee cup is resting on the chair in the foreground with the white-rabbit's fob-watch. The original painting is sold but I am offering this work as a limited edition print of 100. I have been thinking about this painting recently and plan to revisit this theme with some new works. So watch this space!
