This scene was painted using a photograph as a reference of a place I stopped at on a safari trip around Namibia. The ground was bone dry and very similar to the dry landscape of the outback. The beauty of the place inspired me to interpret the scene in a long format indicative of the huge spaces still to be found both in the outback and in the African bush.
