Artwork Description

Chowey bridge is just off the beaten track around the small Queensland town of Biggenden. It is well worth a visit. This view is taken from down the creekand looking up at the bridge. It was quite a scramble getting to this position. The bridge itself was opened in 1905 for the railways. It is a concrete arch bridge with 26.8 metre main span.
It is a quiet restful painting of historical signifance that you will not tire of looking at.

Putting watercolour on canvas is an interesting technique and defiantly not for a beginner. I liken it to making water stick to plastic. The technique interested me because I could present my art without the additional cost of framing or dealing with the fragility of glassing. Several coats of gloss varnish have been applied to the surface to make it durable and weather proof. At this stage professional framing would only enhance the appearance of the end product.
