My artwork explores my life's journey to find my cultural identity through people and nature. It expresses the conflict of cultures, one of which I was born into and the other which I adopted. Between these two differing cultures I feel I have lost my identity.
I paint my friends from various backgrounds intertwining with nature like gum tree. My work is somewhat realistic with an abstract twist. I also express my thoughts and emotions through colours and fragmented shapes. When I look at images of people and nature, I see shapes made by lights and darkness where I visualise organic lines and forms. I interpret this through gestural lines and the flow of colours in a more abstract manner by placing fragmented organic shapes on somewhat representational subject matters.
