Meet 'Ruby'.
Ruby is enjoying the freedom of a gentle afternoon gallop around her owner’s farm in southern Victoria. I was drawn to paint Ruby for many reasons, not the least because it looks like she's going to narrowly miss the viewer in her late afternoon ride. I find the warm and cool colours reflected in the sky and on her body exciting to look at and even more so to paint. The tussle of warm and cool, and light and dark create drama and emotion that keeps my attention. For me, Ruby inspires freedom. She wears no bridle or saddle, shows no sign of service; she has shed her work and her encumbrances for the day to enjoy the last of the light.
Ruby was recently awarded "Highly Commended" at Lakes Entrance Rotary "Gippsland Lakes Art on Show".
Ruby is a large canvas of just over a meter square, please measure your space and decide on the suitability of this painting for your space before making your purchase.
