Shipwreck, “Granite State”, The calm before the storm. A Yankee windjammer, during the 1860’s, that struck on the “Runnel Stone” at the Scillies Islands, due to calm conditions, and a strong tidal flow, the solemn scene portrays the poignant and helplessness of members of the Gibson’s families, being unable to assist those on board, whose fate was sealed soon after, by a fearful gale.
