This is an impressionist painting done en plein air. En plein air painting is an intense process as the artist must work very rapidly as the light changes, but the thick, impasto paint is more akin to post impressionism. In this work I wanted to capture the joyful colour and light of this beach at the very southern tip of Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
