This scene of Flinders Street Station will be instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with Melbourne. While the night lights shine brightly and reflect off the wet tram tracks there is a deserted unease that has become the norm since the pandemic lockdowns of early 2020. While restrictions in the city have eased the vibrancy of earlier times has not returned. Has COVID so altered the way we live and work that there’s permanence in this new normal of working from home, a reluctance to commute and our world becoming more fearful and smaller? Or, will we little by little return to our old ways?
This artwork has a stained Tasmanian oak shadow frame with the framed dimensions of 79cm (w) x 104cm (h) x 5.5cm (d).
