‘The Commuters’ is an artwork concerned with finding beauty in the mundane. It’s a fact of life that for many of us living in cities we spend a lot of time in vehicles on our way to somewhere else. While we may distract ourselves during this commute with activities such as listening to music or interacting with devices there is much beauty in the constantly changing show of lights and reflections.
I’ve painted a bokeh effect in this cityscape artwork, the term comes from the Japanese word boke which means ‘blur’ or ‘haze’. Although the bokeh effect is primarily a photographic technique I’ve replicated it here to accentuate the distorting and abstracting effect it has on the sources of light.
Framing is also an option for this artwork. A charcoal stained Tasmanian oak shadow box frame with the dimensions of 104cm (w) x 104cm (h) x 5.5cm (d) is available for the additional cost of $250.
