Somewhere in between projects, I have been quietly working on a series of still life paintings. I see these compositions as a contemplative outlet for me, I know it is indulgent but the time I do find to work on these is a motivating time where I can relax and paint for no reason other than to paint. I love the history of still life, and the idea of implying deep meaning and allegory into banal commonplace objects. This composition was painstakingly arrange including various vessels and objects from my studio. The organic form of the leaves is balanced against the hand made vessels and the formless almost organic piece of play dough which has been sculpted and positioned.
