Somewhere in between projects and jobs, I have been quietly working on a series of still life paintings. I see these compositions as a contemplative outlet for me, I know it is indulgent but the time I do find to work on these is a motivating time where I can relax and paint for no reason other than to paint. I love the history of still life, and the idea of implying deep meaning and allegory into banal commonplace objects. This composition was painstakingly arrange including various vessels and objects from my studio. The organic form of the protea and leaves is balanced against the machined form of the can and the hand made vessel.
