Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

I Don't Need You shows a strong and confident woman. But the chaos of the world around her, represented by the harsh lines and texture of the background, make the viewer feel that perhaps she isn't as OK as she seems. Like many of my paintings, the hint of a window or the world outside represents hope or a way out from whatever is holding us hostage to ourselves.

Yellow and Ochre highlights suggest the cun's rays as it hits the cliffs.Abstract person stands hunched and in pain. Their body is gaunt and their face is taught. The black and white background and person is juxtaposed with the bright orange of their psyche. The orange represent a web of complexity, an out-of-control maze of thoughts and emotions. The person is neither male or female, they are non-binary. Their sex dos not matter. The only thing that is relevant is their inner struggle.A distorted face in black and white has their eyes shut in want look like meditation or peace. But on closer viewing it becomes obvious that the strangled, tortured mind is out of control and has taken over ; it is the dominant force behind the persons state of being,
