This painting was inspired by the view looking out of an aeroplane window flying from Canberra to Adelaide during spring. I was influenced by a similar perspective painted by Margaret Preston. The patchwork effect of the agricultural lands is dissected by roads, shadowed by wispy clouds, and ultimately dominated by the harsh reflex blue of the Australian sky. For me this view evokes memories of flying in an aircraft as a child and the wonder of seeing the landscape in an entirely new way.
The artwork is framed in a black box-style frame 2cm wide and 4cm deep.
