At Thirteenth Beach on the Bellarine Peninsula, when it's summer time and the king tides have begun, low tide reveals these beautiful rock ledges that are submerged for most of the year, making little rock pools to explore and creating a striking view.
"King Tides" uses a vibrant colour palette to give the viewer the feeling of being by the seaside on a summer's day, with warm tones being carried through the blues and rocks.
Impasto paint on the rocks reflects the textures and contrasts with the smoother sea surrounding it. The sky picks up hints of the purple and yellow that was used to highlight the rocks and ocean, finishing this artwork off with fluffy little clouds as can often be seen by the beach on perfect days.
This artwork reflects the peace and tranquility of the ocean along with the vibrant wild beauty it hides. "King Tides" would be perfect for a living area or bedroom.
