Judith Clingan AM is an Australian composer, conductor, performer, music educator and social activist. She is a recipient of many awards, fellowships and grants, including a Membership of the Order of Australia for services to music.

For over 50 years, Judy is busy, doing one music initiative after another, in her native #Canberra and around the world. She can produce an opera with the choir she created 50 years ago, and then fly to a remote place in India to teach music to Dalit children. She is all compassion, all activism, all music. And she empowers everyone she meets to go beyond what they thought they could do.

The moment you are next to Judy you can’t help but to feel this energy field beaming with emotions, and feelings, and music.

That is exactly what I’ve captured on this portrait and how I want us to see Judith. Positive, encouraging, dedicated to her students and sharing her talent unconditionally and passionately with everyone, making this world a better place one music piece at a time. These chaotic notes around her become beautiful melodies transcribed to us by Judith.
