Ink on linen
Signed on the front.
This painting was inspired by the challenge of capturing the intensity of the eye without overworking the brush usage. Each line, using a wide paintbrush, is carefully placed, yet gestural and expressive.
This statement piece is bold in its simplicity. Make an impact with this modern, striking painting.
Please note that the canvas sheet/paper that it is painted on is slightly tonal and not completely white. It is more like a very light linen. This gives the piece a bit of warmth and beautifully offsets the slightly gritty and rich black ink (which I apologise, was difficult to do justice to in the photo).
The painting is on a canvas-like paper. This means that it doesn't need to be stretched over a timber frame like normal loose canvas and instead can be displayed in a normal picture frame. There is some blank space around the eye so it is quite flexible re the size of the frame.
