The inspiration behind these peony paintings was a beautiful bridal bouquet, and I can see why as in the language of flowers, the peony carries the symbolic meaning of romance, compassion, good luck, prosperity, a happy marriage, and even bashfulness. In their native China, peonies are often referred to as the โ€œqueen of flowersโ€ . "A flower does not use words to announce its arrival to the world; it just blooms." . - Matshona Dhliwayo -

Comes with a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Walking on our local beach and our changing weather patterns and the effect on our environment was the inspiration behind these paintings of the ocean. Deep blues and greens of waters swell as though seen at night with only the moonlight as a means of illumination. Using the deep colours of the Australian outback, burnt umber, burn sienna, yellow ochre this painting depicts the warm sky and burnt land. Focusing on highlights from the sun. to create a very atmospheric painting. Walking on our local beach and our changing weather patterns and the effect on our environment was the inspiration behind these paintings of the ocean. Deep blues and greens of waters swell as though seen at night with only the moonlight as a means of illumination. This painting of varying shaped vessels with olive branches in one and figs on the striped cloth was inspired by the flavour and colour of ripe figs and luscious olives. I wanted the painting to capture the essence of the Mediterranean afternoon, with rich greens and purples mingling with the warmth of golds and ochres. Figs and olives are prominent, lending a sense of abundance and vitality to the scene.

Gum Nuts are iconic elements of the Australian Landscape, there are so many varieties, unique shapes, colours and textures. I am drawn to the way light plays on the rough surface of the gum nuts,
Eucalyptus trees are known for their ability to thrive in harsh conditions, and I wanted to capture the spirit of resilience in this painting.
I have added texture behind the gum nuts giving a wonderful rough feel to them compared to the smoothness of the leaves. Another limited palette creation using mostly, greys, browns, greens and yellow on a warm neutral background.
Framed in a high quality raw oak float frame. If you would prefer this painting without the frame, please message me through this website for the price excluding the frame. The sides of the painting as painted the same colour as the background.
It would suit a contemporary, classic, or corporate setting
Supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you love Gum Nut Symphony.
I am fascinated by the challenge and beauty of creating a rich and vibrant painting with a limited palette. Burnt sienna and turquoise are opposites on the colour wheel, creating a strong visual tension. Iโ€™m interested in exploring how these seemingly contrasting colours can be mixed and layered to create a harmonious and captivating effect. There are two paintings in these colours that work beautifully hung together.

This painting would work equally well in a contemporary or classic setting.

This painting is on stretched artist quality linen canvas with internal wooden frame. It would also look fabulous in a timber or black floating frame. If you would like this artwork framed please message me through this website for price of painting including frame.

The Banksia Serrata's unique texture fascinates me. I wanted to translate its tactile qualities and rich colours onto the canvas, highlighting the textures from the delicate spines, serrated leaves, to the robust woody stem.

The natural linen canvas provides the perfect foundation for this textural exploration.
Framed in a high quality raw oak float frame.
A moment of pure enchantment. A single rose, in full, voluptuous bloom, dominates the canvas. Each petal is a delicate whisper of colour, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in its velvety depths. The leaves, however, are what truly intrigued me to paint Dupion Rose, they curl and twist, mimicking the luxurious folds of dupion silk, creating a captivating interplay of light and shadow.
This painting is an invitation to indulge in the senses, to touch the unseen softness and feel the opulence of natureโ€™s own silk.
