Artwork Description

his is a contemporary artwork of Sydney Harbour with Sydney Opera House as the main feature with small yachts sailing by.
It is a colourful piece which captures the vibrancy of Sydney and the Harbour.
I love to paint the Opera House. I enjoy playing with the shapes of the roof line and the busyness of the city.
This is an energetic painting which has been created using transfer techniques. The artwork is created using a number of layers‚ with various transparent washes and opaque colours to produce windows to the images below.
This is a work on watercolour paper and is one of a series of three.

All art by Wendy Eriksson

Sydney Opera Tonight by Wendy Eriksson. Semi-abstract artwork created using mark making. Mixed media including acrylic and wax.A contemporary painting of a simple still life. This artwork uses bold‚ quick‚ brushstrokes to create energy. Loosely executed with a limited palette.A contemporary artwork filled with movement and colour. It is full of collaged shapes and also imagery of old english pound notes.

When creating it‚ it reminded me of the ten pound tourists who journeyed from far away‚ to settle in Australia.
