This artwork is based on a scene in the iconic Hollywood movie, 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', featuring Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly.
Audrey was dressed in the movie by her style-guru, Givenchy, who designed her costumes for many of her film roles, often dressing her off-screen as well, helping her develop to her iconic silhouette and chic-elegance.
Audrey Hepburn is renowned for her simple elegance, poise and inner beauty. I decided to paint this portrait of her in a simple colour scheme of black, white, and grey tones, on a background of Tiffany's-esque blue to accentuate the elegant beauty of a woman who can manage to look sexy even when standing in the pouring rain.
“Elegance is the only beauty that never fades. A woman can be beautiful as well as intellectual. It’s that wonderful old-fashioned idea that others come first and you come second. This was the whole ethic by which I was brought up. Others matter more than you do, so ‘don’t fuss, dear; get on with it.’”- Audrey Hepburn.
This painting is acrylic on stretched canvas, sealed with gloss varnish. It is wired and ready to hang.
The gallery-wrapped edges of the canvas are painted, so there is no need for framing.
