WINTER RAINFOREST

Holy and silent
There is a stillness which withholds me
Raindrops trickling
Birds echoing their graceful song
Light grasping through the canopy, high and suspicious
Standing still, I am in rapture to feel is magnificence
I am hindered by the forests leafy flesh

Yet I am found rigid, I have not enabled myself to let go, to transpire within
As all those days devoted to the safe, but numbing road of a promised tomorrow
I have forgotten myself, I have abandoned my inner child
I don’t have the feeling I once had, gentle and kind
I have been made bitter and anguished through the regimented agenda of a material and consumerist culture
I have been conditioned, forced into the fabricated asylum of obliged order
What has gone wrong
I was promised an enduring life of opulence
Yet Sheltered from the tender journey within
The truth told by the stone faces, were false promises

I am no longer blind now
Old deceit has been torn down
Truth revealed, I have fallen into its hands
Swept by natures beauty
To part from the ‘old self’
I shall stay upon the course found with the most light
