Part of a series of paintings which depicts different doors and different openings. Personally‚ I find doors fascinating‚ as the face of a home or a place. They appear to say one thing about the place‚ but can present another upon entry.
This door is the fourth in a series of small squared canvases depicting red themed doors. This was a quirky idea I wanted to capture as a door. The old post letter boxes dotted around the city still have the original hand-handle as part of their aesthetic.
I wanted to capture a door which looked like it served one function but was used for another. Needless to say‚ the postman would have trouble delivering to this door as it has no letter slots.
I\'d imagine the door would open similar to a rotating door‚ once you twist and pushed the handle in.
