These small still life paintings are an autobiographical area of work, showing the beauty and detail of vintage and everyday objects. They are arranged to capture their quiet stories and to show them with
a fresh eye in the light of our modern, fast-paced lives.
After drawing the composition onto the support with charcoal, I dust this back to a faint outline then apply the paint in layers building up the contrasts to capture the light which I see in my still life arrangement in front of me in the studio.
