The summer solstice, also known as midsummer, occurs when a planet's rotational axis, in either northern or southern hemispheres, is most inclined toward the star that it orbits. The word "solstice" is derived from two Latin words; Sol means sun, and sistere means: causing to stand still, so literally it translates to "sun standing still". The summer solstice has traditionally been a time of outward celebration as people rejoice and energise themselves under the warmth of the sun, experiencing the peak of its energy. This artwork is more indicative of the Summer Solstice in a place called Scandinavia where the light is less bright with paler hues of light.
