Smart Tax Deductions Make for Great Office Art
Great news for small business owners who love art, the 2026 Federal Budget has extended the Instant Asset Write-off Scheme, meaning you can still claim artwork purchases up to $20,000 as an instant 100% tax deduction. That’s a serious win for your space, your workplace culture, and your bottom line.
If you have a small business, now is the perfect time to invest in art that works as hard as you do. Browse Art for the Office and make your workspace something to be proud of.
Offices, receptions, boardrooms, they all count! Original art by Tatiana Georgieva sets the tone for this board room.
How the Tax Deduction Works
The Australian Government allows small businesses with an annual turnover of less than $10 million to claim an immediate tax deduction on artwork purchased for display within your business. No waiting, just a straightforward deduction in the same financial year.
To qualify, each artwork must be under $20,000, be purchased and installed by 30 June 2026.

Is My Business Eligible?
If your business has an aggregated annual turnover of less than $10 million, you’re likely eligible. To qualify, the artwork needs to tick a few simple boxes. According to the ATO, it must:
- Be a tangible, physical item
- Be purchased primarily for use in a business premises
- Be capable of being moved
- Not be considered trading stock
One thing to note: NFTs are not eligible under this scheme (but who’s still buying those?)

Hi folks,
I run the Harbour Arts Guide in Coffs Harbour NSW which promotes the local arts scene in this region. I would love to run as a story the article you have about office art as a tax deduction. Would this be possible? I would fully credit Bluethumb as the author.
Thanks and I look forward to your response
Kind regards

I wanted to buy one of you artwork for my home office as an employee but I’m not sure if I will be able to claim it. Can you confirm with me whether this will be classified as a home office deduction and where I can read up on it on the ATO. Thank you!
