Artwork Description

This biochrome image was created by using flora from Venus and John's garden at Mt Glorious, Qld. It is from the ‘Habitat: A collection of artworks and stories of Pine Rivers Gardens’ series, which represents selected residential gardens of the Pine Rivers area, Moreton Bay near Brisbane, and focuses on visual and verbal stories of the gardens. A project by Renata Buziak and Lynette Letic.
Gardens play a very important part in many people’s lives. A garden can stimulate peace and tranquillity; provide fruit and vegetables seasonally; be a place for family gatherings; foster fitness and recreational activity; encourage a connection to nature, whilst prompting a sense of pride and achievement in the owner. Residential gardens are also an essential resource for flora and fauna habitats, assisting in the maintenance of biodiversity within the region. People of different backgrounds or location place various values on their gardens and what they plant; from exotic or imported specimens, to carefully chosen native, eatable plants, or even ones of sentimental value.
