Kate: Glue Gun by Tom Hermann
Glue Gun is part of Tom Hermann‘s Unmasked exhibition. This Bluethumb exclusive collection takes a deep dive into the world of costume performance art, Cosplay. The series includes hyperrealistic oil paintings depicting still-life images of behind-the-scenes costume-making, props and portraits of cosplayers.
Amy: Fresh Produce by Alina Hayes
Alina Hayes is a 2023 Rising Star from Western Australia. Australia’s diverse natural environment inspires her. Armed with a paintbrush, Alina often paints imagined representations of native flora. With vibrant acrylic and oil-based paints, she weaves realistic and abstract concepts on the canvas and explores the relationship between composition and pattern.
Alexandra: Allium on Coffee Table by Amanda Cutlack
Amanda Cutlack’s still life paintings are inspired by an appreciation of plants, born from a childhood spent in the garden exploring the great outdoors. A talented multimedia artist, Amanda’s gradual blend of colour has a calming quality that invites the viewer to bask in its tranquillity. Allium on Coffee Table was featured in our Modern Tables exhibition.
Dom: Be Yourself by Helen Andrade
Helen Andrade is a multimedia artist who often uses acrylic paint, oil pastels, and felt tip markers. Her artworks explore the notion of natural beauty and celebrate spirituality and human emotions. Andrade says, “Colour is a strong motivation for me in the creative process, and I enjoy the spontaneity of working from observation and delving into my imagination.”
Eden: Pink Lemon by Shannon Camden
Shannon Camden is an emerging Brisbane-based oil painter. She creates small-scale still lifes of fruit and lollies. “I really enjoy the challenge of painting small, and often my work features very tiny text and fine details,” says Shannon. Bright pastel backgrounds complement the hyperrealistic nature of her work.
Jarrod: Last Man Standing by Jonathan Redmayne
Jonathan Redmayne carefully arranges contrasting colours and organic shapes on the canvas to create bold compositions. He describes his signature aesthetic as “a narrative of visual conflict and harmony”. He creates statement pieces that consume the viewer’s attention by blending brushstrokes and an artful balance of negative space.
Rachel: Sunny by Em Butler
Em Butler is a visual artist living in the Adelaide Hills. She creates figurative, minimalist works that explore negative space. Her works centre around themes of nostalgia and beauty in the everyday. From a painting of a well-loved toy to the facade of a country building, viewers will feel a sense of longing when they discover Em’s evocative talent.
