Artists to watch in 2014: Part Three
Following on from Part One and Part Two of Bluethumb artists that we think will have a big year in 2014, here is Part Three, with artists 11-15 that we’ll be keeping an eye on this year.
11. Loui Jover
Loui Jover had a huge year in 2013. His artworks sell almost as soon as he lists them, and he’s found popularity overseas as well as in Australia. We’re betting that 2014 is the year he’ll shoot for the stars. This piece, Wonder, is made from ink and collage on vintage book pages, and you can buy it now for $700.
12. Oliver Koehn
Oliver Koehn is an exciting newcomer to Bluethumb. His whimsical realist paintings are triumphant combinations of composition, observation and humour. This painting is called Slithery Passion and you can buy it now for $150.
13. Hiromi Andrew
Hiromi Andrew caught our eye last year, when she began putting up delicate, thoughtful portraits that had a touch of Renoir about them. Since then she’s gone from strength to strength, and we’re looking forward to seeing what she offers in 2014. This painting is called Reflecting, and you can buy it now for $330.
14. Jane McCumstie
Jane McCumstie’s talent is undeniable. Her textured abstract pieces tell a story of urban and rural life with exquisite precision. Expect plenty of beautiful, and occasionally challenging, artwork from her in 2014. This work is called Colour of the City, and you can buy it now for $4,100.
15. William Haupt
William Haupt is brand new to Bluethumb, and so far has just one painting for sale – but we like what we see! A descendant of the Kooma and Mardigan Tribes of South-West Queensland, he has won several prestigious art prizes. Shown here is a detail from Totem Animals, which you can buy now for $1,075.
