Artists to watch in 2014: Part Four

The fourth and final instalment of the 20 artists to watch in 2014 is here! (Catch up on Part One, Part Two, and Part Three if you missed them.)

It was so hard to choose and there are many, many other talented artists on Bluethumb that I wanted to include. The 20 to watch are artists that are either brand new with huge potential, on the verge of or already experiencing international success, or just selling like crazy at the moment.

So here’s the final five!

16. Tracy Dods

A newcomer to Bluethumb but one who comes with an extensive history of solo and group exhibitions, Tracy Dods' work is ethereal and ambiguous. She cuts to the heart of the human condition with this painting, Sisyphus's Ambiguous Quest for Human Perfectibility, which you can buy now for $1,575.

17. Jeremy Elkington

Reading the list of Jeremy Elkington's prizes and exhibitions is somewhat exhausting. He is prolific, and his surreal desert landscapes that contain elements of history and mythology have a fascinating level of detail. He had a great year in 2013 and we think this year is going to be even better for him. This piece is called His Divine Madness, and you can buy it now for $3,000.

18. Sue Bannister

Sue Bannister is a favourite with Bluethumb's art collectors, and no wonder. With a solid track record of exhibitions over the last ten years, and talent to spare, Sue's work is reminiscent of Grace Cossington-Smith and post-impressionists. This piece is called Spirits of Bambara, and you can buy it now for $950.

19. Kelly Jade King

Kelly Jade is one of our youngest, and most exciting talents at Bluethumb. She knocked our socks off last year, when Bluethumb held an outdoor pop-up exhibition for the South Australian Living Artists Festival and her artworks all but sold out on the one day. Since then she's been working away in her home studio and finished this masterpiece, He's Big in Japan, late last year. You can buy it now for $2,300.

20. John Moran

John Moran is brand new to Bluethumb, but has had a long and successful career in the art world. We are extremely pleased to have him on board! This painting, called The Family, is painting using oils with Liquin as a varnish, and you can buy it now for $2,100.
