About

I use a variety of mediums for expression and creative practice. Concepts for my work are derived from many sources- natural and built environments, people, nature and literature. Although creativity is drawn from a broad basis, the need for an emotional connection to the work is essential. My art practice must be meaningful to me.

Influences

As evidenced from my work, many subjects catch my eye. Although not surrealist in practice, I regularly see surrealist influences in the vastness and colour surrounding me. Mood and experience also influence subject choice and final outcomes. I find Modern Australian art and Australian artists inspirational and aspirational - Brett Whitely, Margaret Olley, John Olsen, Lloyd Rees, Ben Quilty, Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd....... the list goes on. Whether it be the treatment of the landscape or the way in which they capture people and people in the landscape, these artist have a quintessential manner in reflecting Australia.
