Residing in the quaint township of Mount Victoria Kara Cooper finds inspiration in illustrations, photographs, found objects, favourite things, birds, dogs, a hint of Australiana and the nostalgia of the Blue Mountains to create fun and quirky paintings.
Having worked on countless graphic-design projects for clients for over 20 years, Kara decided it was time to do her own thing and started designing her own range of stationery, tea towels and more in 2013 and a range of artworks for her label Mount Vic and Me. The range has been picked up by numerous stockists throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Kara works from her little cottage, set high amid banksias and rhododendron blooms. She lives here with her husband and two kids. A fat old cattle dog lies by the back step along with a bouncing pug, chooks roam among the veggies and a vintage 1980s caravan sits out the front of the house. It’s the perfect setting for conjuring up beautiful artworks!
