Shavarnia has been an artist all her life. Born into a creative family in New Zealand, her early years were moulded by the natural environment, and the myths and legends of Maori and Polynesian culture . Her Mother was a very artistic and psychic women and encouraged her 3 daughters to express themselves creatively in every aspect of life, so Shavarnia was always painting, drawing, making clothes and puppets, as well as writing, dancing, singing and cooking.

In 1990 Shavarnia undertook a Fine Art Diploma at the National Art School in Darlinghurst. She majored in Painting in her first year, Photography in her second returning to Painting in her third. Her paintings are organic, atmospheric and often photographic in their composition and focus.(see artist statement)

Shavarnia continues to consistently sell her work, has won several awards and been involved in many successful exhibitions and charity events.
