The Australian desert is one of my favourite places. I love its silence and the solitude. In this piece, the vivid blue sky contrasts against the barren dusty earth as a flock of migrating birds flies over in search of a more hospitable climate. Mirages shimmer in the heat and there is hints of the ground water that lies far beneath the baked earth. This piece has a slightly surrealist touch as the full moon has risen during daylight hours and the exaggerated perspective of the horizon impresses the vastness of the desert upon the viewer.
The texture in this painting was created using an acrylic technique that is completely unpredictable. I’m never sure what the final piece will turn out like, but it is always an exciting moment when each unique pattern is revealed!
This one of a kind original is signed and dated on the back (bottom left) and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It's midsize scale is a good balance between having a strong presence within a room yet still being lightweight and easy to handle. The edges are painted white, though I am happy to re-paint in a different colour after purchase.
This piece arrives ready to hang. I only use high quality, acid-free, gallery-wrapped canvas and Derivan Matisse artist-quality acrylic paints to ensure the longevity of my work.
For shipping, all pieces are bubble wrapped and packed in twin-walled cardboard cartons with a protective layer in between the walls.
The texture in my work is difficult to fully appreciate by viewing a photo. I welcome you to see it in person if you feel it would help you select the right piece for you.
Also taking commissions :) If you see a piece that you like but it is not quite the ideal dimensions or colours for your space, please let me know! Or feel free to send me a photo of your favourite landscape that you would like represented in a painting.
