The abandoned windmill beside a rusty water tank is a quintessential Australian outback scene. It captured my imagination as it is reminiscent of an era gone by and the hopes and dreams that were present at the time. This piece is a slightly surrealist take on that typical scene as it alludes to the much coveted groundwater beneath the dry surface, and has these strange bursts of coloured light in the sky. Is it heat stroke, or maybe some kind of a mirage? Is it a supernatural occurrence of the southern lights in broad daylight? Or did you simply gaze too long at that merciless sun?
This textural effect was created using an acrylic technique that is completely unpredictable. I’m never sure what the final piece will turn out like, but it is always an exciting moment when each unique pattern is revealed! The texture that occurred in this painting is some of the most intricate and spectacular I have ever done. It makes the whole painting feel alive with a constant motion despite the inanimate scene.
This one of a kind original is signed and dated on the back (bottom left) and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It's midsize scale is a good balance between having a strong presence within a room yet still being lightweight and easy to handle. The edges are painted white, though I am happy to re-paint in a different colour after purchase.
This piece arrives ready to hang. I only use high quality, acid-free, gallery-wrapped canvas and Derivan Matisse artist-quality acrylic paints to ensure the longevity of my work.
For shipping, all pieces are bubble wrapped and packed in twin-walled cardboard cartons with a protective layer in between the walls.
The texture in my work is difficult to fully appreciate by viewing a photo. I welcome you to see it in person if you feel it would help you select the right piece for you.
Also taking commissions :) If you see a piece that you like but it is not quite the ideal dimensions or colours for your space, please let me know! Or feel free to send me a photo of your favourite landscape that you would like represented in a painting.
