Dulcie has painted Karlyapilyirra a site close to Pipaar, south of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert. Central to the artwork is the the necessity of life in the desert - the waterhole. The white swirls indicate the saltpan and blue swirls show the fresh waterholes, surrounded by sandhills (red radiating lines) that shift with the seasons. The swirls of orange represent karlinkarlinypa (wattle), and kumpupatja (tomatoes) that sprout green after the rain. The black dotting shows the act of burning country, which is used to encourage new growth of vegetation represented by the fine dotting. Here, Duclie tells of her country, its heritage and its life giving gifts.
