My ceramic work is a celebration of form and function. I constantly strive to develop work for everyday use that does notcompromise on beauty and design. The forms are simple yet elegant and I pair them with glazes that enhance the form.My goal as a ceramic artist is to produce objects that can make the daily use of familiar items a more enriching andpleasurable experience, through the development of fine glazes and forms. It is my belief that a ceramic object does not trulycome to life until it has been used and adored.I work primarily with locally produced stoneware from Adelaide, South Australia, and porcelain. I love working with stonewareclay as it produces work that is highly durable and functional, and the iron present within the clay body responds beautifully tothe glazes that I apply. Working with porcelain can be more challenging, but the elegant and delicate results that can beachieved are extremely rewarding.I am inspired by the colours found in nature and I aim to capture these tones in my work. I also find inspiration in the art ofBonsai which has taught me the skills of patience, refinement, reflection and dedication. I call on these skills when developingand creating my ceramic works.For me, the joy in making my fun ctional pieces comes from the knowledge that they will one day become a part of someoneelse’s daily life and will hopefully bring as much joy in their use.
