Artwork Description

This artwork is inspired by evening colours and sunsets in atmosphere around the Southern Fleurieu during spring.
The rich colours of the sunset often combine with earthy tones from the fading light over the hay planes around the eastern Fleurieu.

This artwork was created as a study of light and colour.

This work will be available to view the Bluethumb Gallery on King William road, Adelaide, as part of the gallery’s Palette of Peach Exhibition from January 17th.

Artist Bio

Abbey Turner is an Australian contemporary artist currently residing in South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula. With a fascination in colour, subject and design, she examines the beauty and the everyday.

Upon completing a Bachelor of Education specialzing in Visual Arts and English (secondary), she was accepted into a Masters in Visual Art at the University of South Australia. In July 2017 she graduated from Masters in Visual Art and Creative Practice.

Her artistic career began in 2014 when she was offered an opportunity to be involved in a portraiture prize and exhibit alongside a wide range of talented local artists. Working primarily in drawing and painting, Abbeys practice began with her obsession with pencil and pen, and has since expanded to include many other mediums.

Her artworks have developed over the years, from having a specific interest in portraiture, to expanding her realism style to include still life and objects. Abbey now practices with intention to expand her own skills by exploring different media, styles, and subjects; including abstract art, landscapes, still life, to name a few.

Abbeys central occupation includes teaching Visual Arts in and fostering her love of Visual Arts through the creativity of her students.
