American Goldfinch

When I decided to paint this beautiful bird, I was specific about the feathers which need to be distorted, the edges drenched, and the little gold on its body that has to be bright enough to fill the room, and it is so.
I started with a sienna base and then added lemon, chrome yellow, black and finally a mix of cobalt, ultramarine, ivory and a bit of purple to paint the ground.
