I grew up in a house that smelled of oil paint, watching my father work without ever being taught. It took me decades to find my own way to the board. Now I paint cockatoos and wandering figures on glowing, uncertain landscapes, the work closest to who I am. I am drawn to the mystery of being alive, and the conviction that whatever real happiness we find has to come from within. I paint from my studio in Brisbane, where the word fearless is written on the wall behind me.
