Adam Cochrane is a contemporary Australian artist known for his dynamic portraits that often border abstraction. Most commonly working in oils on canvas, the artist also enjoys exploring his passion for illustration through various forms of printmaking.
Born in 1981 in Dandenong, Australia, he studied at Monash University, Gippsland Centre for Art and Design, where he received his BVA in 2002. The artist additionally studied at The University of Melbourne where he received his Graduate Diploma of Education in 2003. The artist has inspired many young people as he has worked as a secondary school Art & Design teacher for 20 years. Cochrane has lived in South Gippsland for most of his life and currently resides with his family in Jumbunna.
He has exhibited work across Victoria, both in multiple regional galleries as well as showing several works in the Camberwell Art Show. Cochrane displayed works in the South Gippsland Art Trail during 2023 and has his debut solo exhibition at Meeniyan Art Gallery throughout February 2024. His work is in the Federation University collection as well as numerous private collections across the eastern states of Australia.
