Dream rendering #18 of 22 - standing barefoot in a seaside carpark I have an armload of books, so many I can barely hold them. My feet burning from the heat I hop onto the grass. Hardly a whitecap as far as the eye can see yet the beach, park and white deco pavilion is empty. On both land and sea I see lamp posts, both in and out the water. Dozens of them. Not a soul in sight... except one. Down by the water facing away from me I watch as the figure turns. Still too far away to see. It's hot standing there but I wait. I watch as the man approaches. Slowly his features take shape, a face I recognise. 'It can't be, can it?' I ask even though I'm alone. Walking towards me I see it is who I think it is. Approaching me I'm unsure whether or not to ask him for that which all fans in this day and age would covet; his autograph. 'Yes, I will,' I tell myself as he nears.
'How you doing?' he nods with an outstretched hand. I notice that the King of Story too is barefoot. 'Very good now,' I say as I return the shake, spilling my armload of books all over the ground. 'Do you have time to answer a question for me?' I ask.
'Sure, shoot,' he says.
'Just how do you come up with your ideas? Is it something in the food you eat?' It's a stupid question but it's the one I ask. It doesn't matter, because I know I am dreaming.
'Got a minute to sit down?' the King asks.
'For you I got two,' I say taking a seat on the grass.
And just as he is about to start......
I'm awoken into the glum sim-world they call reality.
