Artwork Description

Lay awake I am this night
I'm frozen cannot move,
Though 'tis mid-Jan and swamped in sweat
I sense not all is right
...
Slowly rise across the floor
Wrapped tightly in my rug,
Each step an inch more like a mile
My hand is on the door
...
I pull it slowly slight ajar
Praying it won't creak,
Around the corner in the dark
Her room I see afar
...
But less four yards yet still a mile
Horror comes so real,
I pat the bed to find her gone
It's just a little while
...
Till sunrise race back to my room
With blanket wrapped still tight,
A monster in the house it is
Each room it's crawling through
...
Then like a light he's there beside
Me sitting on my bed,
My little Leroy dog so small
I draw him to me tight
...
Not so big but black and tan
He laps away the tears,
I think back to his fate so sad
He suffered back those years
...
Supposed to send poor Leroy down
To me upon the train,
I didn't know it wouldn't be
For Leroy died in pain
...
You broke your promise, didn't care
Though wait you knew I would,
You gave my dog to someone else
I don't know how you could
...
To let him die out on that road
While each week in and out,
Four pm on platform one
My dog he never came
...
Back to the house and scared to breathe
In case that thing it hears,
I make no sound I deep down know
It's feeding off my fears
...
But where is she where did she go?
To leave me in this bother,
Off in the night, I wished so much
That I could see my brother
...
Yes he's big he'd go and fight
And slay that thing with eyes,
Yet here I am at three alone
Alone I'll have to fight
...
Then up I grab my dog and run
Do tear out of that house,
And on my bike I pedal hard
An hour before the sun
...
Comes up around on Slider Street
I walk those motel stairs,
Through the window I can see
Two bodies lying bare
...
Naked not a shred of cloth
She pulls the rug across,
The bed too late I found her then
That nakedness my wroth
...
You broke a family through that sin
As would a hurricane,
Three decades more I seen you since
Your memory like a rain
...
That stinks and rots and cuts and burns
More acid than it should,
But aged and worn I'm sure you are
So glad the worm it turns
...
One bearded pimp so long now dead
May thee forever more,
Alone be just and just is be
Time evens every score
....
