Artwork Description

John Batman, founder of Melbourne and ‘two headed’ Tasmanian. Influences include Grant Wood, Jeffrey Smart, Tom Roberts and the exquisite brushwork in the George Lambert painting ‘A Sergeant of the Light Horse’ . I wanted to capture the energy and institutional stability of Melbourne.

Artist Bio

Visual Artist and Graphic Designer from Hobart, Tasmania. I specialise in vibrant oil and acrylic canvas paintings using motifs and symbols from mythology and local history. My interest in history has also extended to digital colourisation of old black and white photos from the 1860s up until the 1960s when colour became more widespread. My original canvas artworks and digital colourisations can be found on my Facebook, Instagram and Flickr pages.
