Artwork Description

Appropriating the classic bill poster image of King Kong swiping planes with the one hand while protecting a girl with the other, the thylacine- a creature rendered extinct by the “march of progress” in the words of 20th century voiceover- seemed an obvious choice to be on the loose in Hobart!
When Dutch explorer Abel Tasman discovered the island 4 centuries ago, he couldn’t have known that he created a monster! “It was beauty that killed the beast” This would be great for a bathroom or playroom.

Visual Artist and Graphic Designer from Hobart, Tasmania. I specialise in vibrant oil and acrylic canvas paintings using motifs and symbols from mythology and local history. My interest in history has also extended to digital colourisation of old black and white photos from the 1860s up until the 1960s when colour became more widespread.
