I was first drawn to photography while studying film at Edith Cowan University in Perth. I loved the solitary nature and the freedom of photography, the flexibility to pick up a camera and head out on your own to capture the world. I've since been lucky enough to make a living in the world of commercial photography but now feel the time is right to get back to those initial roots of experimentation and wonder.
I've always been fascinated by how the natural environment interacts with our manmade world and how it only takes the slightest shift in perspective to take the ordinary and elevate it to the extraordinary. That shift in perspective is a multi-layered process from identifying the subject, to the photographic process, to the hours spent tweaking, adjusting and manipulating in post-processing. When all those steps come together and the subject comes alive before you it is such a rewarding experience.
After taking second prize in Faces Behind the Scenes exhibition in 2019, I am extremely motivated to explore more exhibitions in 2020.
