Artwork Description

Purely a painting for vintage car-lovers! Ready to hang.
This piece was created for a collaborative exhibition with Rolls Royce/Bentley held at the Sherbrooke Arts Society Gallery in Belgrave, Victoria in 2018.
The requirements for the exhibition were that you could choose any model, year and make of the RR, but it had to be an Australian setting. The details of the car had to be accurate to the year and model.
It was a wonderful challenge to take up, and I had to find someone who either knew someone, or had a Rolls-Royce or Bentley! A friend informed me that her father was a member of the Rolls Royce Society and had a few cars, so I asked permission to paint one. He kindly emailed me photos of his gorgeous car, Caroline and allowed me to paint her. She is a 1937 25/30 model.
I loved every moment of painting this car. It took me 32 hours and I certainly discovered a new found love of old cars!
Beautifully framed with a top-quality wooden classic look frame that accentuates the era of the car. A little wear and tear on the back from moving around hanging in exhibition and my local market, which does not impede the front in any way. A certificate of authenticity on the back and a hanging wire.

Artist Bio

Adie Bergen is an artist based in Gembrook in the Dandenong Ranges, Australia. She discovered a love of drawing from a young age, drawing on anything with paper in it, including her dad's business files! In high school she realised a love for painting in oils on canvas.

After high school in 1994 she studied Fine Arts at the University of Ballarat, majoring in painting under Doug Wright. From there, after a stint in hospitality and teaching at primary schools, she moved to Melbourne and studied painting at Montsalvat under David Moore.

Moving to the Dandenong Ranges in 2006 she wanted to push her painting skills further and became a member and student at the Sherbrooke Art Society Gallery in Belgrave. She studied under the tonal artist Jeffrey Murphy, who has been a great influence and mentor for Adie over 14 years. She has flourished under his guidance using the tonal technique.

Adie has since settled in Gembrook where she paints in her studio. She mainly works with oils but is also accomplished in pastel, pencil and water colours. Her art has mainly been traditional in style but she has been pushing in different directions, mainly due to her interest and love of colourist art and 20th century Ukranian realism and abstract art.
