Insomnia

Sleeplessness is well known to haunt painters, as it does me, at times. (There are always decisions to be made, on how to proceed with a painting, what step to take next, how to resolve an image, how to get out of a mess). Well, and then there is always the state of the world to entertain a restless mind at 3am...

As the title Insomnia suggests, this is a painting inspired by my own restless nights, tossing and turning in bed. Here we have multiple depictions of myself in bed in various contorted positions, indicating movement and restlessness.

Painted and drawn using charcoal, ink and acrylic paint on raw canvas.

Adrian Bradbury holds a Master of Fine Art (University of Tasmania, 2022), an Honours degree in Painting (University of Tasmania, 2018), a Bachelor of Health Science (Victoria University, 2008), and a Diploma of Visual Arts (RMIT, 2003)

Bradbury has twice been a finalist in the Waterhouse Natural Science art prize, 2018 and 2016.
His work has featured in Lume, White Horses, The Mercury, The Examiner, The Advocate, and on set of The Gloaming.
